IMO to change real stone for fake plastic is bad idea and I think if ythis is the plan then you put the new fake stuff in first then decide cabinet color since this will change the look of the kitchen a lot. BTW putting plastic behind a cooking appliance IMO just asks for trouble .

There is just too much going on in this room.

Paint all the sheetrock and cabs the same white. White tile backsplash and white semi-gloss enamel. Leave the countertops, wood paneling and island as is.

@tracefloyd i hate the countertops so they arent staying.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting I have had quartz in my home before this we put in 7 years ago still in great condition. I dislike the look of granite and marble or soapstone is too soft.

Yes to the white countertops, I agree will look great.

@dan1888 im totally open to quartzite. i think we need lighter countertops to brighten the room. also changing the light fixtures as well eventually

Overall the color you've chosen isn't bad. I would rethink your lighting though. Because of the lighting the cabinet color isn't very consistent. The cabinets on the left side of the photo look quite dark while the cabinet adjacent to the sink looks like an entirely different color.

@norwoodarchitects the light over the sink will be changed just havent found one that fits yet
