Such beauties in this post! The Gypsy Cats seedling is really nice. I like the color, the watermark, and the teeth. Gypsy Cats and Sam Abell are both beautiful. I don't think our Clarification has ever looked as good as yours.

Nan - Clarification has just been wonderful this time with tal.l extremely well-budded scapes and loads of flowers. And to think the grubs nearly ate it to death the first year I had it.

The clump shots are so pretty. I do like the Inimitable seedling and it is impressive in the clump. It will be interesting to see the seedlings from Ruth Watkins Davidson. Rose Sensation is showing quite the edge. Lots of pretty ones here.

The clump shots are lovely. I too like the inimitable seedling. Porterhouse and Ruby Lipstick both look good. I like your Gypsy Cats seedling and, of course Gypsy Cats which has been a tremendous bloomer for me this year.

Your Ruby Lipstick is always so pretty. The eye on mine is never that nice. I can't wait to see Dearest Valentine this year in my garden.

Is the Inimitable seedling a good multiplier? The parent certainly isn't; it is one of the slowest growers in the garden. Dearest Valentine is looking like a bitone. The eye here on Ruby Lipstick is narrower and less saturated.

Mantis - The Inimitable seedling is indeed a good multiplier. It gets that trait from the other parent. It's multiplied to 14 fans despite being surrounded by daylilies with taller foliage. As for Dearest Valentine, after getting insect spray and deer spray, a lot of daylilies here look like bitones.

Mantis and Nan - About Ruby Lipstick, the eye color may be more intense on your monitors for two reasons: First, my camera tends to add red to photos, and, if you are looking at my photos on an Apple laptop or IPAD, those devices add even more red to my pictures. I don't know of a reason why the halo would be narrower in Ohio.

Nan - Dearest Valentine, unfortunately is not a Weather Warrior. This year it is short and not well-budded. At least it managed to multiply a little, despite last year's drought. Most of my daylilies did not multiply at all.

The photography is so precise Debra. Would like to see a close up of Inimitable seedling. Love it when you get a "hint" of pink. Remids me of Kentucky Lucky. I had to go and look up the word Inimitable to understand why you chose it.

Julia - Inimitable is the name of the pod parent of that seedling. Inimitable was a 2003 intro by Patrick Stamile that I grew for four to five years before the grubs killed it. Here's a closer look at the seedling blooms. Kentucky Lucky shows darker highlights than this seedling gets. Sometimes it looks ivory and sometimes it has the soft pink blush. I'm not sure if it's a polychrome or a blend.

Ruth Watkins Davidson has those closely crimped edges I like so much in addition to a nicely rounded bloom.....All the others are tempting too, but what really grabbed my attention was your shot of Dance Again. What a glorious shade of warm yellow that is. I looked it up and it does fade out, but if you ever get one with that form and yellow color to stick in the heat, she'll be a winner in my book. I had to look at that one several times........Maryl

Love the photo of Dark Gethsemane. The dark red and white edging is nice and you catured it nicely. Dearest Valentine is nice as usual.

Maryl - Now that you've called Ruth WD's edges crimped, I know it's what I think of as tightly ruffled. Dance Again does not fade much here. I looked at the photos in the NGA database, and mine has NEVER looked like that light picture. But DA does get shade from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in my front garden. Maybe that makes the difference. I've never seen it look as dark as this year - probably because this has been such an unusually cool June.

Brad - The hybridizer tries to palm off Dark Gethsemane as a burgundy purple, but it's more red burgundy here. Now that I've defined it as a red in my mind, I like it much better than when I first got it.
