Window blinds and counters?

Your design is so fresh—I love the classic elements mixed with modern. Two questions: 1) What are the counters—soapstone? 2) How are the kitchen window shades operated—loop cord, pulls (I don’t see any.), or automatic/motorized? I’m switching from plantation blinds to shades, and dislike long pull cords to wrap around cleats. Thank you for any replies.

*I JUST saw there is a wonderful write-up which says the counters are quartz. I cannot be certain, but it looks similar (or exactly?) like a polished Silestone product I considered for a previous remodel. It’s lovely whatever it is. I do see the shade manufacturer listed, but I’m still curious how the shades operate.

Roman shades as pictured generally have an easy to use pull-down, push-up function giving ability to lower as much as you need. The light-blocking functions go from sheer to black-out depending on need.

This window treatment was a cordless style made by The Shade Store! Yes, the counter is an engineered quartz that looks very much like Soapstone. Unfortunately, this particular one has been discontinued. The clients specifically wanted quartz, otherwise I also highly recommend going with Soapstone!

Thank you so much, Linette Dai Design. My dream is to get a beautiful soapstone, but I, too, might end up with quartz. Appreciate the info on the shades and will look at their website.
