The earlys have just about wrapped it up and the midseason has taken over. With the cool weather this spring I thought I'd be very late with the bloom period, but when the heat showed up the daylilies responded. This year, for some reason, most seem taller and with more sturdy scapes. It hit 100 today with the temperature going up from there the next few days. Wimpy daylilies need not apply in Oklahoma:

New this year. This is a Stamile small double that I have wanted for a couple of years. It was a small plant when I got it, so I was pleasantly surprised it had the energy to put up a few blooms its first year. Hopefully it will survive long enough to have a second season:

A new Hensley red (for me anyway). My favorite of his is Wayah Valley, so I will compare it to that one. First Impression is that it is taller (with sturdy stems) and not as orange red as Wayah Valley. It is used for breeding from what I understand:

I love the color of this. It is remarkably colorfast sunfast and blooms for a long time:

Finally a nice deeper orange from our own Nan. In the early morning before the sun had worked on it, I looked at it and thought no one would believe this color in a photo. It was so deep. It still retains its color well in the 90's, but lucky for it, yesterday was it's last bloom so it missed the triple digit heat.

And the picture that's last is a sentimental one. I saw this and it reminded me of Jean in Arkansas with her Portulaca pictures every year. I still miss her on our forum:
