It is not a lot of space. How many pictures do you want to display, and what size will they be? Does the upstairs hallway present an opportunity, or do you have a wall in a family room you could use for this? For something like vacation pictures you might be better served by installing shallow shelves so you can change what you're displaying easily. Hopefully there will be many more vacations to come and you'll want to display new pictures from time to time. Even though the pictures below are of different rooms, it gives you an idea of what I'm referring to.

No….it will look busy and it’s already busy with the spindles on the stairs. And will anyone really pause going up the stairs to look at a photo wall?

I think it would look great as long as you blow the photos up to large sizes. Standard size pieces will look cluttered. I have about four large paintings and four small paintings on three of my small staircase walls.

The pictures are going to have to be small and then you run the risk of it being overwhelming.

If it were me, I’d place in a uniform pattern on the upstairs wall; will also be a nicer feature vs a walk by.

Load the images on a computer photo frame instead.

I think pulling together a nice-looking gallery is tricky. I haven’t used them, but Framebridge will do it for you and can even print your pics and frame them. I like the idea of rows of frames like Maureen suggested. That’s what I did for our stairway—all B&W photos in white frames.

I would put them in the "Landing" to draw your eyes upward. And to avoid making the stairway too cluttered and enclosed.

You know what they say about pulling out the vacation photos for others to see...😄

But, depending on what the photos are of, size, etc. as @kandrewspa said above, it might work. Who are you doing it for? I framed four photos I took of people and their dogs on various forms of public transportation in Prague, part of what I called my Prague Dogue series, lol. It made me very happy to see them hanging in the hallway. They've been retired to make space for some other photos, but I liked it.

No one really wants to see your vacation photos unless you're an excellent photographer and the subject is something special, but if you want to see them, go for it! You're the one who lives in your home, make it your own.

@MaryAnne Brenan I think it's a nice idea. I've tried to think of something similar. In my case the approach to the stairwell is strictly straight up or down, no side view. So really what I mostly see would be the sides of the frames. Just wouldn't work for me. But maybe with your side approach?
