Both Teddy Bear and Baby Grand are smaller than Little Gem, with Baby Grand the smallest at 8-10'.

You might be thinking of a smaller southern magnolia cultivar. ‘Little Gem’ is already fairly compact, so it’s easy to get mixed up with some of the other dwarf varieties. Hopefully someone here knows the exact one you’re remembering.

Little Gem is not a dwarf. It IS compact (compared to most "standard" southern magnolias) but at the potential to get 30'+ tall and 25' wide, it is certainly no dwarf. For that matter, neither is Teddy Bear. It's claim to fame is a very upright, narrow profile, even with age. Baby Grand is a real dwarf, maturing at 8-10' tall and wide. That apparently is what the OP was looking for but not hardy enough. None of the smaller cultivars of southern magnolia are very cold hardy and do not do well in zones below 7 (and zone 8 is better).
