Bodacious Bite and Heavenly Christmas Cactus are showy in those clumps. Sea of Cinders X Happy Holidays to You looks like a good grower. It's a bright one with that color and the gold edge.

I find smallness to be an issue with several of Mike's intros. I wonder if some of these measurements are made in the greenhouse, or with wishful thinking. Cultivars in general this year are about regular size, even with many other issues.

Sportin Life is one I passed up when I saw it at Ashwood. But you know how that goes--one visit something suddenly grabs your attention. (Seeing it en masse adds to the appeal.) I wonder what will happen to all the Ashwood plants, now that R is not shipping. I know that Oakes has bought certain cultivars in the past.

I hope that the Sea of Cinders intro proves to be reasonably vigorous.

Kay, I'll let you know when we introduce the Sea of Cinders seedlings. It might not be until 2026.

Mantis, Thunderbird Dancer is in a bed that is too close to pine trees and really big lilacs so it really doesn't get enough sun. There seems to be a dry spot there. All of the daylilies in that bed are smaller than they should be. The pine tree close to them snapped in half and will be cut down this week. I don't know if that will help.

Good deal, Nancy. And cutting down the pine tree will definitely help the lilies. Mine aew so much stronger and bloom so much more where the tree and bush were removed.

Kay, I was thinking just a few days ago that I wish those pine trees were not there. I guess I got my wish. We were planning on redoing one of the beds so now we will redo 2. We are still planning on cutting down on named varieties to leave more room for select seedlings and line-outs of our intros. We didn't think that would happen in one fell swoop. The tree people will be here tomorrow to start the job.

Shade can certainly reduce the size of a bloom. But oh, so welcome on a 90-degree day.

Wonderful clumps of the 1st 2 plants, just WOW! I have been busy and not able to check in, I am so sorry to hear of your downed trees. Yes, you may have been planning to cut back some, but I doubt this is how you would have chosen. I whined a lot when I lost trees, but it was early in the year. Made a mess but did not do great damage.
