To install bead-board panelling on my basement ceiling, I will probably need to use 2x3’s. this is needed due to the electrical wiring, gas and water pipes attached to the ceiling joists.

How far apart should I place the 2x3’s so I can nail the paneling in place. or do you have any other recommendations.
