That's really HEAVY looking for a small island. In fact? A 51 x 27 inch island tells me it probably shouldn't be there at all.

I'm sure it isn't your dream kitchen, so don't over invest. Especially not in a bad layout, which that appears to be. Save for the re do.

I do not think the choice is good for that island but I also do not think the ones above are MCM Maybe something like this much lighter looking BTW I doa gree you might have been better off with no island The other option is 2 pendants it does not cost much to have an electrician come to change it .Please take all the stuff off the top of the cabinets the thing I love best about MCM is simplicity .

flying saucer is mid century and might be a more compact size. i wouldnt want the pottery barn ones because the shade appears to be fabric and in a steamy kitchen might not age well. But ive seen nice flying saucer type fixtures that are more ufo looking and fun

atomic is definitely mcm but i think that cabinetry limits how mcm you can go because it really does dominate the room

instead of spending money to remove a useful island see how much it would cost to replace the cabinet doors with plain wood, no carving. i think your kitchen is fine though
