I guess it's terrible to admit this, but I love the beautiful sunsets we've been having since the Canadian smoke descended on the eastern US.

We had orange sunsets and our smoke detectors in the house went off a few times, once when we were gone on vacation. This past two weeks with the NW wind we haven't seen much for smoke at all.

Summer has been very cool here for the most part

Locally it has not been a great summer for the telescope here but the temps are ok. We did have a bit of a dry spell but that seems over.

Back a decade or so back we had a terribly hot and dry summer.

Other than the Canadian smoke, which at times has created unhealthy air, and the lack of consistent rain, this has been a very nice summer. Warm temps, sun, and minimal humidity have made for some nice gardening & growing conditions. My twelve year-old Gymnocladus has grown at least 4’ this year. That was unexpected, but nice to see.

The smokey skies come and go. No unusual heat here -- might have reached 90F one day briefly.

I've read before that the very white (smokey) skies are actually good for plants because the light is spread out over the entire sky so that normally shaded/part-shaded areas of the leaves get more light.

In NJ, Zone 7a/b, it's been a very WET, HUMID Summer so far. No record heat, just extremely HUMID. I come into the house and it feels fine as it is drier. I do have a lot of trees outside, mostly Southern Magnolias at this point. Yes, the smoke is occasionally present here, worst was in the first part of June when it looked like Mars at noon. Coming week to be hot and very humid (mid 90's). Am noticing spotted lantern flies all over now, unknown here a couple of years ago! If you don't know them, just wait!
