What are you looking to accomplish? Do you want new furniture? Work with what’s there…?

Open to bold colors and buying new furniture! I’d like for the living room to feel much more inviting and have more seating. I’m not a huge fan of the black kitchen cabinets but at the moment, we won’t change those yet.

Do you already have furniture picked out? If so, can you post some photos as well as a few inspirational photos?

I’d start with a rug. A new light - do you need the fan? And a new sofa.

Some inspiration… hope this helps

@Cynthia, what a great way to ask for advice! I don't think I've ever read it posted that way. People always seem to ask what is needed, not what changes. I like yours better.

My top priority would be to find a new home for the overstuffed seating. They are disproportionately large for your space. Do you think that's possible?

Legs for the TV and a low TV stand to set the TV on so I wouldn't strain my neck. I'd rotate the liquor cabinet to face the front door and with its side against the wall to the left of TV. Divide the room. The cab looks like open shelves which would be nice.

The center of a TV screen should be just above eye level when seated.
