I recently purchased a house with engineered hardwood in the public areas and carpet in the bedrooms. I would like to not have any carpet but I have had difficulty finding an exact match to wood. Would it be better to go with a lighter or darker wood? If I found something that almost matched would a different pattern like herringbone make the mismatch less noticeable? I have even considered cork but not sure if that’s a good option for a bedroom.
