Bender board is typically a plastic resin made to look like wood that is used to build a discrete edge for different garden areas. It can be used on each side of a walking path to shape and define the walking and garden areas. See Google Images after searching on bender board.

Bender board is the board you bend for edging of course! (I've always heard it referred to as 'bender board" too. Regional maybe?)

@ken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5 My question was about trying to identify a stake that fits the wider 1 inch wide board/edging. There are many stakes being sold. Almost all of the ones with a clamp that fits over the top are designed for the much thinner edging products.

If no stake is made to go with the one inch "board" then I would use fabric staples like this:

I recommend only because they are one inch wide. Make sure they are galvanized. I am curious why would want such think bender board.

@emmarene9 A stake like that would never hold a bender board that stands four inches above ground level. You use a thicker bender board because it lasts longer, and because it is stronger and can resist more lateral force.

I was puzzled by this question, never having heard of bender board. I can't access the Homedepot website from here so I just googled '1" bender board.' As far as I could see there are stakes sold specifically for it. They do not hook over. They screw into the board and are 18" long so can be driven deep into the ground. @floral_uk z.8/9 SW UK Here is a photo of one inch bender board, which basically is a plastic copy of one inch timber bender board. The photo shows a typical edging application.

Yes, they have a specific stake with screws in the side, but

a) Those stakes are very blunt and difficult to get into hard soil without deforming the stake. I prefer to use metal stakes when possible.

b) Those stakes are also a hassle to use because of the screws. I was hoping to find a thin metal stake with a "hook" on top to pull down on the bender board.

I ended up using metal spikes. They look like gigantic nails and the head of the spike can sit flush with the top of the edging to prevent it from lifting up.
