I used to have a gorgeous buddleia 'Summer Beauty" that was about 5 feet in height but one year basically everyone in NJ lost their butterfly bushes. Something about the weather that year and I never replaced it.

It is problematic getting buddleia to survive in my location when planted in the ground and so putting it in a pot which I wheel into and out of garage twice a year helps in that respect.

Rouge, is it the newer cultivars with which you have trouble? I lost a dwarf buddleia a couple of years ago and didn’t replace it, I think it was a Pugster.

However, a neighbor of mine has a large, lovely Black Knight (Dark Knight?) that returns robustly year after year. it’s quite impressive and I’ve often thought of finding space for one in my own garden.

Rouge did your grand cascade survive I hope? Looking forward to seeing that on if so.

Yup. GC did survive in its pot, although the foliage isnt the best (earwigs?)

Rouge, I had to give my Grand Cascade away. My heavy, wet soil just couldn't make it happy. I hear it's doing well in its new home.
