Provincial is a nice classic nutty brown. We use it often. You can only judge it by doing a sample of stain on your floor after it’s been sanded. Tell your flooring professional you want provincial and any others that are similar. My guy usually has a truck full of random stains to try.

Go lighter, or darker, than the cabinets. Wipe the fully sanded floor with mineral spirits to see what it will look like with just a clear waterborne coating. And have the contractor do test strips for darker. The look changes with a finish coat from just a raw stain, so make sure you have 1 coat of finish on your samples.

Our GC had the flooring guy stain several white oak samples for us. We didn’t find ”the one,” until he started combining stains. A combo of Early American and Natural is what worked for us.

The floors run throughout the house.
