I just read that this morning. I likely don’t have near enough stockpiled. 😔

I am an early adopter--I retrofitted LEDs into a vintage RV for off-grid camping over 15 years ago to make that battery last longer. They have gotten better since then. I have no problem with LED bulbs. I have a bucket of incandescents in the garage that have been happily replaced with LEDs.

I do avoid LED fixtures (with built-in LEDs) because I'd rather change a bulb than a fixture. And I do have some seriously old lamps.

I haven't found an LED that exactly mimics an incandescent, but the Philips 2700K warm white bulbs come the closest of the ones I've tried.

I'm happy with most any 2700K LED bulb. I have several boxes of incandescent in various wattages but rarely use any of them. I like not having to replace burned out bulbs especially when they're in inconvenient locations. I do have some nice LED under cabinet light fixtures along with a large ceiling fixture in my laundry room and bedroom closet. It was the best option to replace the big ol' fluorescent fixtures that came with the house.

Speaking of lightning - I would love to know what kind of bulbs are used in the fitting rooms of my local Marshall's store. I couldn't believe how good my skin looked when I was stripped down to my underwear!

I think, as in some restaurants, the bulbs have a pink cast which makes skin look gorgeous.

Oh, I read this post this morning and forgot that I was going to stop at Dollar General today to see what they had left. I agree the bulbs do burn out fairly often. And those 3-ways I use in a lamp in the library - why does just one watt portion burn out???

The LED lighting has improved so much in the past few years. I have an inexpensive new floor lamp that, with remote control, can change the brightness and/or the tone of the bulb. We are sitting in a lovely golden glow right now.

I’ve been switching over to LEDs as the incandescents burn out. I like them better because they last longer and don’t emit heat like incandescents do.

I hate LED. Use them in all fixtures and lamps because, well California. They do often burn out, they fade too. And some flicker. Don’t dim well either. I have a box of various LEDs that haven’t performed. Also the selection of attractive bulbs for ceiling and pendants is very limited. Never have I spent so much $ for so little gratification. Quality control is in the toilet for LEDs.

The only LED's I don't mind are the one's in my front courtyard lights-the covers help.

When we changed 6 recessed cans in our family room to LEDs, even with a 14 ft ceiling, we noticed the difference with less heat. We got rid of the plasma TV and noticed even more. There might be a light here or there that has been missed, but we've tried to replace all we can to LED. Even the gas light in my front yard has been changed to LEDs -- solar LEDs. Cree and Feight are good if you find them.

We are in an older house, so LEDs, dimmable LEDs, in dimmable fixtures can flicker.

We actually use a mix of LED, incandescent, and CFLs (and, yes, there are fluorescent tubes in the kitchen fixture that have never been changed in over 18 years).

Uh oh, I just jinxed myself. Guaranteed, within a week all of those tubes will go out.

I hate LEDs too. But, I recently replaced my great room chandelier 9 bulbs with “Vintage LED” frosted candle tip bulbs with dimmable 2700 soft warm look. I am quite happy with them. Only ones I have ever liked. Got them on Amazon. No flickering and nice dimmable look. I am keeping my garage stock of incandescent for 2024 and my gas range and will replace hot water tanks when needed with gas tankless water heaters. I want to make these decisions. Don’t you?!

What sort of LED bulb would be good in a bathroom vanity fixture, directly above the mirror? Right now, we are using those florescent bulbs but they don't last very long. I think we got some bad bulbs the last time we stocked up at Home Depot, a couple of the bulbs were dead out of box!

Arkansas girl 2700k or in Home Depot ‘warm white’ is what old fashioned bulbs had. Some people like 4000k ‘cool white’ or ‘daylight’ bulbs. To me they look to much like a doctors office. My house is all 3000 k.

What is it that people hate about LED lights? I love my LED Christmas lights - the colors are brilliant and the bulbs don't go out five minutes after you get them.

I find LED Christmas lights to be a little bright, bordering on glare, instead of glow.

Lighting makes such a difference in a room. A sad day for sure.

Yes to bpath and arapaho. After I try the 2700 warm leds I so hope to change my mind.

The ”warm” led we used last year for outside Chridtmas lights are abit lemony, while our neighbors are icy light blue. :(

Exactly! They seem to lean towards yellow or blue.

Flo, thank you for posting the vintage look LED bulbs. I am going to order some. Years ago I had a Rennai tankless hot water heater installed. Runs off my propane tanks I have for a Vermont Castings propane stove for backup heat, because I’m in Maine. Always have plenty of hot water, never ran out. Love it.

I like the 4000 daylight blubs and have them in almost all my fixtures. The one room has the older blubs and I don't like how it looks yellow.

Flo. Darn! I was on Amazon and about to order until I noticed they are” non -dimming”. That’s a deal breaker for me, especially for dining room. Wait! I must go look again as see yours ARE dimmable. Sorry. Back I go.
