Master bathroom floor plan help!

Please help me come up with a good layout for my master bathroom. I have attached a sketch of what I’m possibly thinking, but not sure if this is the best layout. The room dimensions are 10 by 13. I need two doors - one coming in from the master bedroom and the other from the mud room (seeing how my husband is a farmer). The doors need to be on opposite walls on the 13 foot sides. There will be a window on the 10 foot wall that will be roughly 3 feet and in the corner. I’d like a walk in shower, to maximize space and make it feel open. I would like a bathtub but it’s not crucial seeing how I do have a bathtub for my kids down in the basement bathroom. I know I’d have more space without it but I’m just seeing what my options are. Thank you for your help!

Since you have a tub for the kids, how often do you or your husband use a tub? You'd have a pretty comfortable-sized bathroom if you didn't try to add a tub.

    - The entrance from the mudroom seems to be rather cramped; that is, you seem to have about 30" between the vanity and the tub. Maybe you could reduce the vanity and go with a full-height /shallow pantry-type cabinet on the left. OR maybe you could reduce the door /move it towards the toilet and place the tub on an angle.

    - Speaking of the vanity, you probably don't want a 24" sink. Most sinks are more like 17-19".

    - The toilet area is a bit problematic: It's only 36" wide (so small) but it's 48" deep; this means you'll have to walk into a deep, dark cave.

    - The shower is large ... I'd want to add a niche on the wall shared with the vanity. And I'd want the shower head to be on the back wall (same wall that holds the sink's pipes) but the controls on the pony wall between the sink and the shower.

    - The wall between the shower and the toilet is thick ... are you thinking that'll house a storage niche? That works, but I think I'd rather have a little more space at the toilet /place the storage between the sink and the shower ... you could go down to 3 1/2' for the shower and still have ample space.

    - Definitely go with a hand-held shower head so you can clean the shower easily.

    - Where will you hang towels by the shower?

    - Where will you place a hamper?

    - I'd like to see storage in the room: storage for extra towels and toiletries, for cleaning products, for extra toilet paper.

    Wonderful space for a bath!

With double doors entering, I assume you are entering from a primary space. Consider centering (or siightly off center) the tub with an mosaic or mural statement wall behind. Also consider a double vanity as you have plenty of room. Here's a floor plan that might work for you.

Eh, now you have pinch points between the vanity /tub AND the toilet /tub.

Note that there is 30" clearance to all areas. Plenty of room.

Is your master bedroom at the bottom of the picture and the mudroom at the top? Will you use the bathroom more as a powder room when you access it from the mudroom?

OP please comment if you are still interested in continuing this thread. Thanks!

Yes, Suzanne, the master is below and the mud room is above. The master bathroom won’t be for guest. The door from the mud room will only be used by my husband when he comes in from the pig barns and fieldwork.

What if I took out the tub? How should I lay it out then? Should I keep the vanity opposite of the door from the master bedroom or should I put it along the window wall? Also, my husband and I do not want double sinks. We were thinking of having a trough sink with two faucets. I’m just not sure of the placement of the toilet. I don’t want it in a toilet room but just out of view if possible or hidden by a half wall maybe? I will also need storage…

Can the door from the mudroom be moved down to where the shower is?

Karenseb, yes it can. The doors can go anywhere but must stay on those two walls.

Which bathroom would be a better layout? I know the one sketch has two toilets. If I went with that one, where should I place the toilet? I would put storage where the second toilet is.
