Bathroom remodel gone wrong

Hello! I recently got bathroom remodeled and just very unhappy with the finished results. There are big gaps on side and around niche box and tiles are uneven as well. Any ideas on how to fix these big gaps? When we mentioned initially those big gaps, was told that grout will get filled and it will look smooth after but that is not the case. I couldn't find pencil

trim or bullnose to match tiles so ended up having to do schluter but still shoulnt have unfinished edges like that? We paid a lot of money for it to look like this. Any help/recommendations appreciated to prevent it from having to redo everything.

So sorry for this unfortunate install; like others, I hope the waterproofing was done correctly. It looks like a redo to me.

Again, Patricia Colwell, whether you like niches or not is immaterial, and you consistently "hate" certain choices that many, many people like (as is your right, but really, is it necessary to always belittle the choices of others?). Also, niches are not to highlight shampoo bottles as a decor item; they put your products at a convenient height, within arm's reach, without bending over. For many, this could be a safety issue. Like kitchens, bathrooms are, first and foremost, a 'working' space, which serve specific functions; they can be beautiful and pleasing, but first, they must function well. I understand that you have come across fails because of niches, but that would be possible with many poorly designed, waterproofed, and constructed elements.

I don't see a fix for any of this.

Do you have a contract aith the tile professional? aside from starting over, I would contact a lawyer and the Better Business Bureau. Don't Bad Mouth the installer, you need to stay professional and get this resolved. I am sorry for your dilemma. Keep us posted!

It was friend/someone we knew unfortunately. Easier when dealing with companies sometimes.

Inexperienced tile installer with no skill. Bet there is no waterproofing either.

He did use redguard that is suppose to make it waterproof?

If the friendship is valuable, I'd use a shower curtain to hide the shower and redo it in the future when the friend has forgotten about it. :(

Just plan on redoing it in a couple of years, before the mold gets too bad. Plan on spending way more than you ”saved” on this.

What is under the Redguard? Was it installed properly? Prepped properly?

backer board under the redguard. Prepped well as far as we could tell and covered entirely with redguard.

Joints taped with non-alkaline tape and covered with Thinset? Screws proper pattern and sunk properly with Thinset?

I have to agree with Patricia on this one, @decorpatti, I also am not a fan of niches, mainly because they easily get grotty and difficult to keep clean. I need to have shampoo bottle etc higher up, but I use a hanging shower caddy which is easily discarded and replaced if it gets nasty.
