You have lots of pretty seedlings, Nat! Number 22, the Soli Deo Gloria seedling, is impressive. It has beautiful colors and great bud count for you. What do you mean it's too big? Does it have giant foliage, or is it very tall? I wish they could all be EMO's, but I've registered three that are not.

Others I really love are #7 and #9. Both of the Gilded by Grace seedlings are nice, and I like the ones out of Arctic Lace, especially the pink one.

It's very hard to cull those seedlings. I've just started working on that for this year.

Beautiful seedlings! I like #1 and 2 (always wanted to grow Gilded by Grace, but it's tender here). I also like #22 (such a rich color and we really value late bloomers) and #12 (I really like eyed daylilies appreciate how tall it is).

Very pretty. My favorites are 4, 7 , and 17. I to like the gray watermark on 17.

I like #22 because of its performance, just as important as a pretty face. I also like #4, #7 and #17. I like 4 because its lavender, not too many nice lavender daylilies in my opinion. #7 love the watermark and #17 has unusual coloring.

Lots of nice ones here. Based on what apparently was a consistent season for all of us on short scapes and low bud count, I certainly would not measure any by those standards yet!! I like the Soli deo Gloria seedling, 7, 8, 17. The #2 has a lot going on for it.

Debra, thanks! Number 22 as of today has 23 buds and officially shares the Bud queen title with Thistles and Thorns ))

It's 36 and by big I mean yes, leaves are wide and long, fans are massive, it has 5-6 maybe but it takes a lot of room. where in that patch I used to grow 6 seedlings, now I will only have it and one more. Small yard gardener's dilemma - I want more variety, but I like northern plants, in particular Karol's, and many of them grow huge, so I need to cut a piece of them every other year, or some even every year to keep them in check. On the other hand, one of my very first daylilies - Shores of Time for example, has never been divided and does not need it.

Wow, I'd be Very curious in your culling process / criteria.

In this connection a question: how long would you keep an unbloomed seedling?

Thanks Brad! Very surprised several people mentioned #4, well in that case it will certainly stay.

Nat - I'm having a hard time culling because these two last seasons were not conducive to evaluating what these seedlings are capable of doing. But I have to get rid of some because I have more seedlings waiting in cups that must be planted. Basically I'm yanking the ones that just don't grab me, ones that don't multiply well, and some that look bad when it's cool but great when it's over 90 degrees. One of my neighbors wants a few of them, which is great because I can just look over the fence and see them.

Oh that's interesting one about them looking bad when it's cool, I haven't considered that. And we do usually have cool nights here. Bad opening is probably my biggest point especially when one petal sticks out, hanging up too of course but it's inevitable here, depends on percentage.
