lighting for living room

We have a fairly large living room that we just stated to decorate. I am wanting to achieve an eclectic style in my house.Right now we have two lamps on the side chests but it doesn’t quite provide that much light. I was thinking of recessed lighting since I do my artwork in this room but also want a chandelier or light fixture that is unique. I was thinking of the light fixtures below(see picture for idea). Can I do both recessed lighting and chandelier or is that an overkill? What light fixture would you choose?

Your room is beautiful. I have a similar chandelier as the first one you posted along with recessed lighting. I don't think it's overkill.

I would love to see the chandelier you have! I have found some from Wayfair that is similar to the one In the first photo

Amazon has one very similar to what you posted.

LOVE your room! Both chandeliers are amazing. but I lean toward the first one as well. I agree that recessed lights are fine as well

I remember this room I think from a previous post about choosing a wall paint. Love your choice! Really toned down the orange in the sofas. A great lesson to me. And it makes the area rug at home too. What wall color is it?

Yes, you can have both and should. An option for your art is the traditional light over each work, but that I'm guessing is "out" given your amazing style. I wouldn't even give it a thought unless you enjoyed really mind-bending exercises.

I like both chandeliers chosen but I like the more circular one in the room with all the green better. You may find others in a similar style when you go to purchase. I like the looseness and apparent movement in the more circular version.

This is my favorite so far.

You could also use an arc floor lamp for over the coffee table instead of a chandelier. Good idea focal twin table lamps but get beefier ones with big white shades and bright bulbs for in here. Uplights could be used. Any floor lamps or task lights. Picture frame lights.

We decided to first get recessed lighting and lighting for our artwork. Thank you all for the suggestions!

You could also add mirrors behind the lamps. The lamps are nice but a little small on the black consoles and the mirrors would fill in some of the space.

I plan on putting up some drapes and more art work as well as some mirrors.

@Zoe Schofeld  I look forward to seeing the next step.

Since you have made up your mind I have nothing to recommend but wanted to say that I love your space! I adore a dark moody room and can't wait to see what comes next!

Thank you! Later down the line I will add a chandelier to tie everything in

While I’m on this thread, would you guys recommend a chandelier for my dining room? Wanting to get rid of the chandelier the previous owners had.

Here are the light pendants we have in the kitchen

I love the chandeliers you have posted so far. Love the kitchen pendant! You seem to like a vertical feel in your chandelier and pendants. Or is that to go better with high ceilings?

I wondered if you are finding it relatively easy to add the wiring for your chandelier in the living room. I don't have wiring for either chandeliers or sconces.

We actually don’t have high ceilings, I think they are either 8 or 9ft.

Wow! My bad! Cool. Gives me hope for mine! Thanks!
