deer resistant plants, native to your area.

We did have a landscaper clean up the beds and add some deer resistant plants. The bottom picture is from last week. The top is when we purchased this spring (Angel/Ghost) is gone.

I would want to plant some things that would grow as a buffer/fence between the new neighbors!

Wait and see what happens before you plant a new hedge or plant screen between you and the new construction. The new neighbors may have new landscape plans.

They may do something on their side of the property line. It may be enough of a screen or you could fill in gaps on your side.

They may want a common fence...split the cost...you never know. Is it commercial? Hard to tell. If so they should build it and plant the screen on their side.

You could build a simple pergula - 8-9 ft wide centered on the door - wood painted white that adds plasticity / interest to the flat facade , brings focus on where the front door is and make a great first impression to visitors , lastly a great opportunity got some trailing flowering vines ( many plans and precut products on the market )

Your place is adorable! I had a cabin in Dingman's Ferry PA years ago and the best thing we did was to screen in the entire front porch. It kept out the bugs and animals (in the middle of the night, yikes).

Looks like you have a great start to landscaping your weekend house. Agree about covering and screening your front porch especially if you have a heavy deer population. It's very startling to open your front door and have a deer right there on the porch.

I would ask the builder next door why he doesn't have temporary construction fencing to contain raw dirt from dumping on your property if there is stormy weather.

@pkpk23 thank you. Yes, the plan is to do something with a porch covering to give it more interest and more of a modern / rustic appeal. Thats a good question about the builder next door.....they cut down about 100 trees and our house was covered in sawdust and dirt as well!
