If you place an outlet on the right under the cabinet would you really need an outlet right next to the sink on the left? I woul place the outlet at the far lefr end of the wall where it would be less obtrusive. Also if you are using what looks like subway place the outlet horizontally.

Lutron outlets and wall plates are available in many colors and finishes. Instead of placing the outlets in different locations, maybe you should place them both on the backsplash and choose an attractive finish. You could use the same color and finish for switches and other outlets in the kitchen or match them to the wall. Be sure that "Accessories" appears in 'Step 3: Select Product' of the Controls section of the webpage as some finishes such as "Metal" are not available for outlets.

Leviton outlets and wall plates are also available in many colors.

We have a subway backsplash and did ours low and horizontal, then matched the color to the tile color so they blend in well enough that I sometimes have to look for them. I would definitely want one between the sink and the stove for things like an immersion blender. We have one on each side of our sink and I never use the one on the non-stove side, but I believe it was required by code for us too based on the length of the counter. I plugged it with outlet covers years ago since we put our drying rack there, and can't remember the last time I took one out. I'd think not just about code, but also about what you plan to use in each area of your counter, and place the outlets accordingly.

This code section drove me crazy too. One thing we considered but didn't do was a plug mold built into the underside of the windowsill, or outlets recessed into the top of the windowsill. It ended up being mostly a nonissue.

You will need one to the left of the range as well as to the left and right of the sink. Low, and horizontal, with a color matched outlet and cover plate, is the way to do it.

you all are SO helpful - so you'd match to the tile, not to the hardware or faucet?

Also, I really loved my idea of undercabinet plugmold, but will it look weird if there are no outlets to the right of the sink? or not matter? THANKS!

You could match either--I had planned to do ours in polished nickel to match our hardware and we put the white covers on temporarily. But then we decided we liked having them blend in instead. (Our light switch for the over sink lighting is done that way too.) I do not personally like plugmold, but you might. I don't like having the cords dangling from the cabinets for the types of things I use my counter outlets for.

Here they are - but I have a different backsplash situation. I dont notice them in real life, but now… I do!

I am also considering doing unlacquered brass plates for them, which I'll likely do elsewhere in the house. But then they will be quite noticeable!

@HU-918119203 - HA! I had to zoom in to see the outlets! I couldn't see them right away. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your marble (and really, your whole kitchen situation). Which edge did you get?

Sally T Thanks! I am really happy with the kitchen too (but not quite done yet). The marble is indeed gorgeous. I went with a slight eased edge. I think that's the most classic and is what fabricator, architect, and contractor unanimously recommended.
