Very nice, Rouge! I only have three of them; they’re very beautiful, but the oniony smell is off-putting to me. My husband likes them, though, so these three get to stay. :-)

Allium cernuum. Nodding Wild Onion. It seems there are differences in this species populations, depending on where in North America they are growing. Work is being done to clear this up, and it may result in 4 species intead of just 1.

Huh, what you say?? ... okay, it never really had grabbed my attention all that much, though left several seedlings to be, one in particular has larger more attractive blueish green foliage and awesome 3 inch richer fuller blooms, a wonderful plant, will soon snap a photo. Remember don't be so quick to be weeding out seedlings!!

Are culinary chives as floriferous as ornamentl allium? I’m wondering if I should spread mine throughout the garden or get another allium..

Yes kitasei but much earlier in the season. The flowers are smaller but I add them to salads and to garnish soups. The garlic chives (Allium tuberosum) are just starting to bloom and the pollinators go crazy for them. I use the foliage in just about everything. Edible & ornamental is a win, win.

Allium senescens needs to be divided after many years. It is normally covered in blooms so thick you can barely see foliage. I will get a pic of Millenium at some point.

And yup 'peren' they are such a good plant to attract bees. (Alliums and agastache are my go to plant for bees.)

@pennlake I got a medusa (and some other allium variety) after seeing yours a couple of seasons back.

Its weird as I have many of these later summer blooming alliums and I have never noticed any offspring.

FB I have lots of seedlings. It will be interesting to see what I get. Hopefully something unique!

GardenHo, it's easy to be hasty with the removal of seedlings, though certainly can reap welcome surprises! Just look at that photo of yours, a lovely vignette, the gorgeous vitex and vine covered wall !! :)

Mine aren't blooming yet, they're behind this year for some reason.
