Well, I used to be cautious when they first started becoming popular, but I changed my opinion about QR codes in general over the years, I must say. I myself have a digital business card (I'm an accountant, and the company I work at made ones for each employee), and yeah, I can't say that people are taken aback when I show them the e-card. Of course, I mostly use it to send an offer via email, but we also print them to preserve that "traditional" way of doing things. Still, I can't deny that there exists enough room for foul play when it comes to embedding digital data in a QR code. It is my understanding that anything can end up in the code, and the person that scans it grants immediate access to all those URLs (or files, pictures...) to their phones/PCs. So, it comes down to where the e-card was made - which platform was used - since not all providers are equally attentive to ensure no one uses the QR codes for spreading malware. However, I'm yet to encounter a problem involving e-cards personally, and I use them pretty often...

I see. So, I guess it wouldn't hurt to remain a bit cautious still, but, from what I can get from your post, it seems that no self-respecting company will risk jeopardizing the relationships with its clientele by taking shortcuts there... thanks for the comment btw!

its very common now to have a QR code on your biz card that links to you VCard - many times on the back of a regular biz card. Most people just laminate a few for their wallet, present it at trade shows and in business meetings and your new acquentance scans it and voila their contact info is added.
