Our hardwoods are all remnants or considered reclaimed as they are all cut from smaller pieces. They are also certified with country of origin, in fact our wood comes through a concession that has worked with the FSC among others. There is such a thing as real sustainable forestry you know.

    Hi Janaschmidt,

Like Eco Arbor said, there are a lot of companies that practice sustainable forestry. Typically people tend to think that all wood comes from clear cutting but the reality is that most clear cutting and massive deforestation comes from agriculture.

On the other hand, most suppliers of hardwoods, and lumber practice sustainable forestry because it maintains a healthy supply of product to harvest in the future. Otherwise, there wouldn't be an industry left.

Have no guilt just do some homework and you'll be able to enjoy Ipe in your home

yes, ipe is available from certified sources, however, as an alternative I'd recommend recommend black locust a domestic species that is very sustainable, grows like weed in some areas and had been barely recognized by most lumber mills and loggers, let alone being endangered. I am ac lumber wholesaler and exporter in NY, let me know if you need any significant quantity of anything, also have a construction company and offer installation. Also don't trust any claim of sustainable even if certified for imports, the Chinese dominate the tropical hardwood lumber industry and even when destroy entire forests, forge bribe the company corrupt African, Asian and South American officials to get certificates www.decohardwoods.com www.c2cnyc.com
