help me choose a range please

Hello, I’ve read many of the threads on here, but with so many choices haven’t found just the right one for us.

I’m looking for a 30” gas slide-in range, with double ovens, air fry function, high btu, and easy to clean. I’d like to keep it around $2000. I know I’m asking for a lot but maybe such a range exists? If you have recommendations that are above the budget I’d be glad to consider those as well. Thanks in advance!

That’s the one I’m considering. Do you personally have it? Recommend it?

    "Do you personally have it?"

No but it's the only one that meets your specs and price requirements.

If you were willing to with a freestanding range, you'd have five choices (stainless steel) at lower prices.

I see. Yes, you’re right. Our builder said we need a slide-in. Also, we’re getting a hood but I can’t find any responses/comments online of whether a hood is okay to place above this range. Any opinions on this?

A hood is good to place over any range, and expected by all range and hood makers. Read the specs on both to figure out how high to put it, and then adjust to your personal tastes.

Check the installation specs on the freestandings--they are usually the same. There used to be a custom counter cutout for slideins but I can't find any that still do that (I'm shopping too), so your builder may be thinking of the good old days when there was a more significant difference.

The location of the controls is the main difference on some (in addition to whether or not the sides are finished). And some freestanding ranges even have the controls on the front.

That’s very helpful info. Thank you!

"...whether a hood is okay to place above this range. Any opinions on this?"

Since your OP said you were looking for a high btu range, you must have a hood over it. Make sure your builder installs a duct for the hood that exhausts to the outside. Ideally the duct should be 8" diameter, but many builders install a 6" diameter duct since that is slightly easier for them. But that means your hood will be noisier and less efficient through no fault of its own, but rather the fault of a too-small duct. Ask your builder to install a hood duct to the outside that is 8" diameter. I'd even pay an upcharge for it; it's worth it. You will be living with this hood for years, and if it's noisy and inefficient because of a small duct, you'll have wished you'd paid an upcharge for an 8" duct.

The hood needs to be mounted so that the distance from the cooktop to the bottom of the hood is between 30-36". Not higher, not lower.

"whether a hood is okay to place above this range"

Of course. You just have to follow the specs for the hood (example) and range. I see it's recommended that the range hood be 6" wider than the range and be vented to the exterior.

Thank you for your responses. Yes, our kitchen plans indicate a 36” hood so just need to find the right one now.

Another question about the range- can you recommend one that comes with brass knobs? Also a slide-in 30”. I know I would have increase my budget. Willing to do that for the right range. I want it to be aesthetically pleasing and to fit well with our kitchen as we’re doing an all white kitchen with brass handles and accessories (and stainless steel applicants).

Thank you for all the helpful advice!!!

Thanks, I’ve obviously googled it as well as researched many threads on here and on other sites but it’s a difficult decision with so many options out there, so I figured I would ask here as I know there are others who were in the same boat as I’m in currently. Thanks for your feedback though :)

IMO this is expensive and silly.

Thank you. I was looking into the Cafe brand. I love the look, but really don’t know either if it’s worth it just for the look of it as for me that’s why I’d be going for the more experience range (to have it look more fitting with the rest of the kitchen design). DH also thinks it’s silly but willing to go for it.

"Thanks, I’ve obviously googled it as well..."

Many writers here will say, "just Google it" but in fact, Google searches are terrible for locating appliance by criteria: too many search results and too many results that don't even meet the criteria you specify. Remember, Google, Bing, and its competitors are advertising platforms, first and foremost. The BEST site to use for appliances searches is appliancesconnection.com whose search engine lets you specify a wide variety of criteria.* Also, if search results show that a manufacturer makes an appliance similar to what you're looking for, check that manufacturer's website; it may offer more. And, of course, always check manufacturer's spec sheets (and even user guides) before buying anything.

*Home Depot is not bad if you follow the menu tree.
