Could this be burn from chemicals sprayed---maybe on the lawn?

Many thanks for saying it is not HVX. I did not want to start dealing with that. It is an inner, smaller leaf on my Earth Angel. I cannot recall but I may have sprinkled granular fertilizer early in the season. Just do not recall. Husband has not used any lawn chemicals. Also, it is closest to the corner of house, about 6-8 feet from lawn edge. I am in Minnesota, just north of St. Paul. They have mentioned on the news that some trees have already started turning. Yuck!!

I agree…..no HVX. Burn probably…..maybe street salt damage if street is nearby. Or as Paula said August…. I have a number of uglies myself. 😝

ugly or not.. its still converting light to energy.. and this is the time of year.. they use that energy to grow roots to store energy for emerging next spring...

taking a few leaves off a large mature plant is fine.. just dont go cutting down young immature plants too early...
