Never MT

Do you have or have you ever had a Never MT? (Took me forever to figure out that is pronounced ”never empty.” I kept tryin to make it mount, mountain, Montana, etc. ) Do you like it? Are there any drawbacks?

I ordered one today, but I can always return it if it is a bad idea. I remember a lot of people who were TKO had them.

I hate refilling the built-in soap dispenser next to my kitchen sink. It always overflows. So, I’ve taken to putting a drinking straw down in it to allow the air to escape as I fill it. Today, I finally did what I was afraid would happen….I dropped the straw into the reservoir. So I had to get under the cabinet, unscrew the bottle, and remove the straw. That became my impetus to order the Never MT.

Wow - that’s a blast from the past. As TKO as I was I never went for one of those. I don't seem to have a problem filling mine. I just keep the soap stream smaller than the opening..

I try to do that too, 3katz, but apparently my sink is extra-wide front to back. I cannot see down into the hole and something always happens to cause a wider stream to come out (perhaps, impatience on the part of the operator?) or it gets full without my realizing it and it overflows. If it works, that is one irritation in my life I can eliminate for $17. Of course, if it doesn’t work, then I’ve spent $17 adding an irritation! 😂

I had an undersink soap dispenser with my last faucet set - it was such a PIA I stopped using it. I still have the same sink but needed a new faucet a year ago or so and got a matching round cover for the extra hole. I keep a decorative pump dispenser next to the sink for hand soap and I put my liquid dish soap in a coordinating decorative container with a pouring spout. Works for us.

I removed the under sink dipenser years ago because of the aggravation and puchased a wonderful Oxo dispensrr to sit sinkside. i only have to fill it once or twice a year , it’s handy and looks decent What is TKO? I have this one from Simple Human I removed the sponge holder because I don’t use it.

Why don't you fill it with a funnel?

We got one a few years ago. After ten years of use, the plastic bottle to our Kohler dispenser actually corroded at the neck and broke away from the dispenser.

It's a different brand than Never MT, purchased on A-zon. It works fine. I use Mrs. Meyer hand soap refill instead of dish soap. I wash my hands dozens of times a day but only wash dishes once or twice so it made more sense to fill it with hand soap.

I installed 2 when I remodeled the kitchen in my previous house. They worked well for the few years that I used them, before selling the house. I didn't install them in the new house as we are empty nesters now and don't go through as much soap.

Oh wow, that really takes me back. When i first joined gardenweb, i was having my kitchen renovated. Everyone was talking aboutNever MT. The other hot item was a foot pedal to turn on the water, like a drinking fountain. I didnt get either. I have no problem refilling my soap dispenser. I always add water so it isnt so thick.

Pal, I’ve tried a funnel. Just doesn’t work. I really can’t see how full it is getting then.

ded, I’d love a foot pedal but I really don’t need that at all. If the Never MT were more than $17, I probably wouldn’t have bought it either.

Thanks to all who have one of these and have responded. I’m hopeful that my experience is as good as yours! It is due to arrive tomorrow. However, I live in Podunk Corners and things that are scheduled to arrive on Sunday frequently don’t come until Monday.

I have the MT and like it. I always buy a gallon of soap and put under the sink and put the hose in it. I never thought about pouring it from the top. One gallon lasts me about 5 months.

I've had a Never MT installed for over 15 years with no issue. I buy the large bottles of dish detergent, ususally Dawn, and have probably only changed them 5 times or less over those years.

I‘ve had a Never MT for about 10 years. Love it! I buy large bottles of dish soap at Costco. They last forever.

I'm another that 15 years ago (or more) had one because of advice from the kitchen forum. I've moved since but I loved it. I have no idea if the new ones are the same quality.

I think I've shared this Never MT story. My neighbor told me that when she was getting settled in her new kitchen, she was filling up the sink soap dispenser with a Costco-sized bottle. She poured and poured and she thought, "This soap holder is great, it holds so much soap!". What was actually happening finally dawned on her. The pump was not attached to anything. She was pouring the soap directly into her cabinet!

I ordered a Never MT for her.

I had two neverMTs in my previous kitchen bought because of the kitchen forum. The only problem I had with it was that the soap would build up slightly at the seal outside between the tube and the dispenser. It was a pain to clean, but I’d use it again if we had a built in dispenser. We just have a bottle of Mrs Meyers on the counter in our current kitchen (and I’m ok with that)

Dee, that story is funny and awful at the same time. What a mess to clean up!! I wouldn’t have thought to look under the counter before I started pouring, either.

The NeverMT was one of the things I did pick up from the kitchens forum back when doing my kitchen. I've had one under my main sink and prep sink ever since. Got my son one when he bought his house and gave my sister one for hers, though I'm not sure if she ever put hers in. Plan to always have one.

I just installed mine! [happy dance] Took me almost literally no time! I’ve got it on a smallish bottle of soap because that is what I have. I’ll get a bigger jug when this runs out!

We use a bottle from Costco under each sink -- it lasts at least a year, maybe two, under the main sink and years under the prep sink. You will love the fix it and forget it nature of them.

Ordered one to be sent to DD. She buys the Costco size bottles regularly. I think she’s really going to like having it!

I had one and liked it, but at some point, something in it failed. I didn't know so I kept pumping and only getting small amounts of soap out. It turns out the pumping caused considerable amounts of the soap to stream onto the base of my cabinet. It was quite the cleanup.

Oh, Gray, I have a fear of something like that happening!

The line uses a valve to prevent the soap from flowing back into the bottle and causing you to have to pump repeatedly to bring it back up the tube every tim you use it. It sounds like that valve got gunked up. Anytime it doens't pump normaly, it's good to give it a check. And if your cap doesn't fit on the bottle or you have .bottle last years, you might want to add a little water to the soap. I think I remember some people in the kitchens forum sayng they added a little water even at the start to make the pumping easier for their brand of dispenser.

The kit came with 4 different size caps. As suggested in the instructions, I threaded the 3 unused caps onto the tubing before I insert it in the bottle! I thought that was such a clever suggestion for keeping up with them!

bbstx where did you order yours? I believe when i originally ordered ours (back in 2007!), it came with three or four Never MT’s, and i gave one or two away. We recently had to replace ours, so I’d like to order a few backups (for here or wherever weend up in the future).

    Mine came from AMZ.

This is the one we bought. It's cheaper than Never MT and is an A-zon Choice selection.

I had the never MT for about 8 years until it gave up its life and stopped working. It wasn't the dispenser pump as I tried it just putting it in a bowl with dish soap and it worked fine along with getting a new one just in case. It worked great though until it didn't. I've been meaning to get another one. I was a bit soured on it at the time due to having so little space to get under there and get it installed/removed. It is a pretty tight space. I should probably get one as I have a free standing one as I can't get in there and screw the plastic container to hold the soap back on. The Never MT at least will be easier to install than that.

Well after my last comment here, I noticed the pump at my prep sink was not pumping well, so I checked it and found the tube loosened a but and some soap dripping -- near the valve. Not sure which part was responsible, so I cleaned it up, pushed the tub back deeply into the bottle and ordered a replacement with an "upgraded" stainless valve and stoppers instaed of caps that don't fit. Will be surious to see how that works.
