Preverco Engineered Hardwood Core

I am looking to put a white oak engineered hardwood on my entire first floor (~1,600 sq ft). The local flooring company (well respected) is suggesting a company by the name of Preverco from Canada. I've never heard of them. I noticed on their website that they use a different core than pressed plywood. The hardwood is attached to a quarter-cut softwood base and white pine veneer backing. I can't find much research on this approach. Can anyone help me out? We're spending a lot of money and I want this to last 20+ years.

I have a 4 and 5 year old plus a dog and I live outside of Chicago. I am expecting wear and refinishing my floor at some point when the kids are older. I think the price is about $9 per sq. foot for 3/4" with a 5 or 6mm top layer (the website says 4mm but you can get thicker).

To be specific, we're looking at a white oak with Max19 at 3/4" thickness with a 5 or 6mm veneer and 7.125" wide.

Thanks for your post! Proverco Max is the best version of their engineered wood floor. We have installed a few in our flooring projects. I am positive that you will like it. I am not sure their floor comes in more than 4mm wear layer though. $9 per sqft for 7-1/8" Max White Oak is a super good deal.

European Oak is a different species, quercus robur, than North American White Oak, quercus alba. It's denser with less open grain. This allows flat cut material to show the grain figuring without the dark open grain look. It finishes up less yellow. It's currently become widely available from many sources.
