Living Room Layout help/ideas

Hi! My husband and I just purchased our first home and are currently in the process of fixing it up before we move in. I'm struggling with the living room layout (all the houses we previously looked at had smaller living rooms - which were surprisingly easier to figure out!), and would greatly appreciate any ideas.

I'm open to any and all ideas/suggestions as we currently have no furniture other than a square coffee table and 2 round end tables. I think we would like to be able to put a TV somewhere, and perhaps an electric fireplace if possible (they don't need to be together).

Any ideas would be super appreciated! Thank you so much.

(Mind the mess - just finished ripping up old soiled carpets to reveal hardwood flooring!).

Take that floor plan you posted, and go back and add every inch to it. All the wall and window dimensions, every opening as in to the foyer, stair etc so we can scale allllll of it accurately. Do that legibly and boldly and upload it below in a comment box.

You don't want to over furnish, as god forbid future moves of walls for a kitchen remodel.....

Congratulations on your new home! The uncovered hardwood floors look amazing.

Do you have any plans to renovate? Widening the opening between the dining room and living room would be great to share the light/views. Or remove the wall, if possible, to repurpose some living room space to widen your narrow dining room.

There are some really nice TV consoles with built in electric fireplaces. A family member has one and it looks great.

What a nice big space, huge windows and congratulations on the wood floor!

Number 1 on my list of what not to do is to start ripping out walls. Live there for a while first and you may like it as-is.

You have said you have almost no furniture but you want to have a tv and an electric fireplace here. What needs do you have? How many people will live here and will need seating on a regular basis? Do you have small children? Do you entertain? What’s your style - casual, traditional, boho, formal, etc?
