So young makes for some difficulty. Definitely it is much or all red maple. The length of the major center lobes might hint at some degree of silver maple, but again, adult leaves would reveal ID much better. A nearby parent tree might suggest alot?

Certainly red maple lives up to its name....

There is a similarity to Acer ginnala.

Zoned 3-8, they don't do as well above z6.

A. ginnala are drought tolerant.

And as mentioned above, very young seedlings can be difficult to identify.

Do you have Acer rubrum down there?

Thanks, and I haven't seen any Maples in the wild (or elsewhere) around here, but I'm sure there may be some planted in residential yards?
