Center it with the sofa, not the wall.

My vote is center on sofa & lower it about half the empty space below. I also agree that wall could use larger art or more related pieces to make an arrangement. The 3 round pieces on left wall might be part of that arrangement. A piece that’s the color of center star on your quilt pattern art would be a nice touch. Or, maybe add some throw pillows in that color. Keep the pillows that mimic the quilt art pattern & the throw too. I see a theme going on there!

If you haven't got removable hooks, use painter's tape to map out a couple of rectangles on the wall and see where you like it. Very often if you rearrange the pillows or replace a lamp or lift up the lamp on top of books, that matters more than where the exact center of the sofa is or the center of the wall is. I see you have a ceiling fixture. Be sure to walk back into the other room and take a look.

If you like what you have please please please ignore these suggestions you should replace it with Home Depot framed decor color blobs. If you have other things you'd like to add to the wall, that can look good. Or go to Home Depoit if you like.

But it is truly tiresome to keep seeing these decorators tell other people they should be buying mass produced stuff to hang in their living rooms because it's bigger and therefore required.

The wall hanging seems a little small and too high. If it's one of a kind I would get it closer to the sofa, center it and involve the sofa pillows in the color scheme to expand it as suggested by KW PNW Z8.

Maybe a larger ceiling fixture without an exposed bulb glare.

The visual from Paul F is great! I especially like the good effect created by simply adding throw pillows to sofa that are the color of the center star. I’d suggested that thinking it would highlight the art & happy to see it really does.

I have taken down the previous art, and mapped out what it could look like with a larger collection of pieces (centre being a large rustic mirror made from a barn window, and the side pieces being photo frames. The problem with centring based on the couch is that there are electrical sockets that are centred to the wall. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the general layout of this photo, and whether you think I should move it all over to the right, in order to be more centred with the couch (could move it about 4 inches and still cover the electrical).

As I side note, I like the idea that mytwocents had of raising the lamp with a couple of books.

K D, The arrangement you’ve laid out is a total change & dare I say without seeing the actual pieces, it may create a too busy look. Personally, I like the original piece. It seems to tie in well with the vibe & theme of the room - warm, woodsy, similar patterns in pieces on sofa that tie into the original piece. My guess is that piece is made of wood? A large mirror hung over a sofa seems, IMO, not interesting. What image would it reflect? The ceiling fan for sure but what else. The side pieces - photo frames - seems like they’re not large enough for a person to see who or what is in the photos. I like photos displayed on a gallery wall one can stand up close to & look at detail in the photos. Or, arrange photos on a table. Would you be willing to try this suggestion - hang the original piece low enough to cover all the outlets on the wall; take the 3 round pieces that were on side wall - can’t see what they are but I see their texture & looks like graduated sizes- place 2 smaller ones on left side of original piece & largest one on right. If that doesn’t work, move original star piece to right & hang all 3 pieces on left. Also I think a couple of throw pillows in that gold tone would be perfect addition!

The artwork itself seems really nice, however it is too small to be hung over the couch without something else with it or a larger frame. It also is hung too high at the moment. Perhaps look at doing a gallery wall or turning the artwork vertically and hanging something else next to it. Here are some ideas for you from a few of our recent designs.
