If you're doing white, will you also have the stone, cedar, and variegated roof? Because that makes it feel like too many finishes if you add one for the porch. I'd use a bright, eye-drawing, color for the front door and trust that the porch will be visible enough. (Also, be sure to paint the garage doors with much less contrast from the house than shown here, as they will dominate the front enough already.)

I would use stained wood, which is sort-of where you're already headed. Also consider changing everything that's white in your photo to the same gray or black.

I would skip the stone, it just cuts the look in half and it’s not appealing in the photo. Would help the porch stand out.

If the stone will not cover the foundation and or be on all four sides of the home, leave it off. In fact I would leave it would all together. Are you planning board and baton everywhere or just the porch?

Might suggest using the same material and color on the entire body of the house. Since it isn't a really large house you should get a more cohesive look using the same material everywhere. You can make your porch stand out by using contrasting materials, colors and with landscaping.

The massing of the house emphasizes the garage and the space at the other end of the house. Trying to emphasize the entrance with color will just make things more complex.

Eliminate the stone and go with one siding around the living level and a complimentary siding in all the gables. Start the main siding with a water-table trim and drip edge, do the same but smaller between the different sidings. Treat all sides of the house as if it faced the street. Eliminate the taller nested gable. Let the landscaping define the entrance.

we are building but the basement is poured so we can’t change the shape of the house anymore.

Thinking black metal roof….windows can be white or black….out the of the mitten siding we like yukon grey, or frost. But we are open to other colors. They have some varigated colours we could use.

To many siding types (or directions), keep it at two max. Have you priced a metal roof (quality is big dollars)? What is "mitten" siding? If you are referring to Mitten Building Products vinyl I do not see a board and baton?

we are open to horizontal siding or board and batten. our current home is stone and brick and stucco….the area we are moving to is very rural and although we would like stone and brick again - we arent going to invest in it at this time.

I would explore vertical board and batten at both ends. Stained cedar and post for entryway. Garage doors in white with windows trimmed in black. Black lanterns on garage.

Yes its Mitten building products. They have a board and batten option under Sentry colours. And Yes we have priced the metal roof - it is basic line texture
