Kitchen island in between two columns/pillars

Hello
So my dilemma is I am having an island being made out of my cabinets , however I have these two columns on the outside . I read if you are going to use the island as a countertop / bar that you want it to be 12 -17 inches so a ledge may protrude and seating may be comfortable more comfortable. I have the space however I’m curious what advice anyone has on ideas of how to arrange the ledge of the countertop in relation to the pillars . Should I have the countertop connect to the pillars ? I know I want the seats to not extend pass the pillars as I don’t want them to be in the way of the wall space .
