Looks like the bracket is about to fall off ... so just move it up and a few inches out. Who cares if the paint patches aren't perfect, since it will be covered by the curtains. Also that wall doesn't get direct light, so there should be no fading. I've touched up old walls with no issues.

He knows nothing about being flexible or about home improvement projects! Dump the boyfriend while you can ... I'm kidding, but no one tells me what can or can't be painted, since I do it myself. Learn to do things yourself and don't rely on a man to do it, or more importantly, to tell you if you can or can't do something in the home you share.

Home depot used to have some home improvement classes on Saturday mornings. See if they still have them and sign up for a few.

Hem them. Rod needs to be longer so the stack is not obstructing the view. This time be sure they are mounted on a stud.

You know the rod needs to be placed higher above the window for the best appearance. In addition, the drapes will need to be hemmed to get them to the proper length. Just do it yourself. If you use these anchors, which you can purchase at the local big box store, you should have no issue with installing the rod supports.

Sounds like my husband. Took me quite a few years of similar comments from him to figure out 1) he doesn’t like change and 2) he doesn’t want to do any home improvement projects. Now, I don’t even ask. I either do it myself our hire someone.

A bad patch job is a result of putting on too much spackle and paint. I strive to keep my patches as tiny as possible. Put the spackle only in the holes using a finger and wipe off any excess with a damp cloth. Don’t make a big patch of spackle with a spatula. Then use a Q-tip for the paint patch and dab it on in small dabs only where needed. Your patch will then be barely there. I agree your curtain rod should be higher and wider. Best wishes :)

You could install another, deeper, rod where you want it and hang some sheers over the old rod. Not ideal.

But the others are right--the old rod is poorly attached anyway. It'll be on the floor soon with those heavy curtains anyway. Will you guy trust you to do this yourself? I know since it was HIS place he might be a little protective at first, but he will get used to the idea that it's your place together.

I suppose you can wait until it falls off and then deal with it, but the hole will be larger and harder to patch. :)

I'd ditch curtains altogether and go with cellular blinds of some sort. Those curtains are too dark and too long.

I don't think if the rod went to the ceiling those drapes would work they are really long what was th reason for ordering these extra long drapes . I think if this is rental I garee with your boyfriend but if this is yours reaise the rod install it right and I think you will still need to hem the drspes As for color I have no clue as to the rest of the space so can't comment on that.While you are at ot make the rod at least 10" wider than the window/ door so that the drapes go past the opening when stacked back.
