I'd wash the walls now. You get to accomplish something that's recommended prior to painting. Then, if you want more change paint. Get extra. Measure and draw up a floorplan for the entire floor. Put in measurements for windows, doors and make it very large so it can be easily read when clicked on. Post it in the Kitchen forum for ideas and recommendations.

We just redid our floors and painted the whole house. Like you, we need to redo the kitchen and bathroom as well, We put new wood floors in the kitchen because we are not going to change the layout. But we resisted repainting the cabinets now since they will get done when we redo the kitchen. And between the backsplash and the cabinets there is not that much kitchen wall visible.

We put LVP down in the master bath because a) I don't like wood in the bathroom and b) it will be easy to pull out the LVP when we do the bathroom, Looks nice now but I won't feel like I wasted money,

So I would say, paint and floor but don't spend money and effort on the kitchen and bath if you are doing them later. In the meanwhile you will have a beautiful fresh house. Yes the kitchen and bathroom look tired by comparison but you can only do what you can do at one time. The rest of the house looks great.

It takes discipline to stick to your plan and not slide into adding additional items as you are working on part of the house. If you can only do one, paint 1st.

Painting is an easy DIY that makes an immediate improvement. New floors are a 30K expense that you will have to buy extra if you are not going to backtrack when doing room remodeling later.

Your best expense will be a good designer to help you plan the whole, now. Otherwise, floors will not be the only thing getting backtracked and redone again, with money spent twice. Or three times. Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, structural, foundation, roof. You have to look at the whole big picture. Living with unattractive floors for a couple of years never hurt anyone. Rugs are cheap. Plus, tans, beiges, terracottas, natural wood, and the whole earth tone vibe is once again moving up as the most popular choices. Home fashion is cyclical, just light couture fashion. Everything old is new again, if you just wait long enough.
