I’d look for something with a chain so you can adjust length if necessary. Also, consider adding different styles in each room for more interest and consider size of room. Search Boho bedroom chandeliers (they can vary as much as their prices).

The beaded one is cool... but yes, could become a dust mop. Do you think not using flush mount because the ceiling height is a valid point? I could get a 24" flush mount that is about 8" high. I decided against any recessed lights in the bedrooms, so this is the only ceiling light.

Thanks for the suggestions Maureen. I think boho might work but I need a little extra kick to it. These are high end furnished rentals, I don't want to get too overdesigned... but I love this wood bead fixture. I think I need to calm down and use a woven bamboo style.

I think the beaded ones alway look tacky and a bit too much like hippie stuuf kind of like macrame . I think i need to see your room to advise on lighting and honestly beach deor is fine but is your bedroom that style . Show us the space in a comment here. BTW IMO a center light in a bedroom needs to be enough lighting to light the whole space when cleaning.

The room is blank right now. I'm living here until the project (and my unit) is done. Its an insurance job because of a garage fire. Once I tell the insurer that the project is complete then I have 6 months to go on a buying spree for my lost personal items.

Adding the word Japanese to the boho search turns up the spikier look and curves as well.

I like that spiky one best so far. Not so much because of the spikes, but because I think the best lights are only a little bit interesting. Not the star of the room. And especially for rentals, not something like the beads and the macrame that is so very style specific. Some of those lights are going to be a big turnoff for potential renters. And they are going to make it harder to do simple redecorating when a renter ruins the linens or the rugs.

I don't know enough to say whether a flush mount does or doesn't work on a 10' ceiling. But I think for most rooms a pendant or at least a semi-flush with a good drop is a more stylish look and a gentler light than flush mounts do. Especially if the light provides some uplighting as well as downlighting.

Many of the ones shown will cast terrible light, lots of irregular shadows. Use them decoratively but either have recessed lighting to fill in or have decent bedside lamps or both.

Life is too short to not purchase a chandelier/pendant you like, because of someone else's fear of dust!

I like both of those last ones. Palimpsest has a good point. Try to see a light in a showroom, so you know what kind of light it will cast. Bedside lamps are a must no matter what. Hardwired sconces are particularly useful, and will give a more deluxe feel to the room as well.

I was assuming you would have lights by the bed as well as an overhead. Your guests will need an overhead light for switching on when they walk in the room and also to find things in their suitcases.

As for your stretch-fabric one, I see a moth flying around in it and it can't get out....

Heh. I'd want a stylish ceiling fan, especially in your climate. Open windows and a fan. It's even kinda eco-friendly.

I was thinking the same as Fori. Especially if there are mosquitoes around.

I can't go to sleep without the fan on! It's super quiet and has 3 speeds, but generally put it on low.

I like the little extra style of the woven fixture with black. The black could be the charred logs of a beach bonfire. The heat pump cassette in the ceiling has a fan mode with oscillatation so a spinning ceiling fan would be redundant.

I'd definitely have bedside lamps and the armoire closet will have interior lighting.

these might be nice bedside lamps for the overhead you chose best, although if you are going to give people a read-in-bed option, putting a pin-spot goose neck like the one you have would be much better.

While I like this last option, it seems dwarfed by the size of the room. This light in a larger size hung a bit lower would be perfect I think. Then two beside tables would be enough light for the room.

I have the first beaded one (Arteriors?), but not in a bedroom. It is about 3 years old, and not seemed to be a dust magnet any more than any other ceiling fixture.

This is 20" inches across. Might be more of a dining table type of fixture.

Bedrooms have more things in them to make the room dusty -- including people spending 8 continous hours there. Bedrooms also get a lot of dust-making activity -- changing linens, changing clothes...

(btw, what really matters in the end is how the room looks in a photograph for the listing. So maybe a big floppy hat shape or wing shape is what will photograph best, or something long enough....

Hang various things from the ceiling usig painter's tape and clothes hangers and take some pictures....

No glass over the bed in California. Even if the fixture is secure the rattling during an earthquake would triply frighten tourists.

I like the fun of the first one but can't really see what the material is or how open it is to bugs like moths flying into it and buzzing around or dying and needing to be removed.

Good point about the earthquakes! How did I forget that?? We had a minor temblor years ago when I was doing vacation rentals, I raced outside at 3AM to make sure to calm anyone that might have gone outside. Sure enough, they were ALL outside at the street in their underwear. Not one of my neighbors even got out of bed or turned their lights on. Imagine how scared they would have been with a jingling chandelier overhead! No way would I have gotten them back inside. haha

The first fixture in my last post is plastic and the second is open at the bottom, woven bamboo.

I installed one of these fixtures and I really like the style. You get some drama with the shadows and the baskets are really well made. I'm changing out the canopy for a bigger one along with the wires to make it look more substantial but for $85 seems like its worth it.

The wider canopy moves the baskets 2 inches apart and woven wire light sockets put a wooden knob at the top of each basket so the bulbs are deeper.

I like the wood and the woven cloth wire quite a bit. Is the nickel canopy an improvement or would black be better?

Seems to me that once the room is fully decorated you can take a look at the canopy and leave it or spray paint it black or any other color you think is best
