I'd rethink your colors. Nothing white, especially not for the trim.

Something similar to the last one in this series might be my choice.

Thank you for taking the time to comment and provide these mock-ups. I like the look of the last option. My husband is dead set in white trim. Grr. I’m so not good on exterior colors. Would it be odd to do dark fascia and have white (or lighter) trimmed windows and corners?

Kaleigh, I went through the same frustration with our new build two years ago. I kept second-guessing my choices. You may be reacting to the unfinished state of your exterior at this point in time. Try picturing the finished columns and front entry, along with landscaping in the mock-up below. I think evergreens and blue spruce ( 8-10' dwarf) with some ever-blooming shrubs would look great. Perhaps try matching the lightest shade in the brick for the fascia and trim. (paint in the store appears much lighter on the exterior).

OP, I don’t understand your comment about your DH and white trim. Does he like it or not?

@wiseca9 thank you for taking the time to mock that up. Looks beautiful. And you’re right in reacting to this point in time - sometimes it’s better to just trust the process out. I love our black doors and they really look beautiful with the siding color. I don’t want to go nuts with added white in but doing the band board with soffit and fascia along with the front window looks good.

I think I’ve landed on SW porpoise for the shake. It’s a couple shades darker than the siding but you really don’t notice that much being up in the gables. The other option we had was urbane bronze but that feels very dark.

I like the SW Porpoise, it's a subtle difference from the SW Felted Wool. Urban Bronze wouldn't provide enough contrast from the roof. I like the white, which looks great with that stunning front door!

What size will the columns and cross beam be? Will you be staining them or do they match the porch ceiling? I don't think I'd do white trim on the ceiling of the front porch, though, because those beams are beautiful. Maybe match the stain?

Last question - what color/style are the garage doors?

The gables are too dark now if you are doing white trim- too many competing elements and materials. I would paint the gables the siding color if you are doing white trim. (I would do linen white not bright white regardless). You can’t highlight every material on the facade or it becomes a mishmash- stone, black windows, white trim, green siding, grey gables….

Hallett & Co - the gable color in my original posting is unpainted. Those are NOT staying.

@wiseca9 - front porch ceiling will be T and G cedar. Will need to decide on a stain for the ceiling and other wood detail. I don’t know the size of cross beams off the top of my head but columns are 12x12

Looking at SW shoji white for trim

We have 12 x 12 columns and I think they'll look proportional on your home. SW Shoji White is a good choice. I found this picture online with SW Felted Wool siding and Shoji White trim. They used Anonymous Gray on the gables.

Came across your post as my SW color consult this morning also suggested a color palette of felted wool, urbane bronze for our fascia/roofline (as the home has bronze windows we need to work with) and she suggested Porpoise for our shake accents as well.

Have you painted the shakes yet to share an updated photo? We have a shake sided screened porch on back that I was considering staining a walnut brown as there is a long deck that needs to be stained, worked into colors as well.
