Tell us more. What kind of renovation. Where is this. I see tile and plaster that looks like it was smashed by a hammer.

I bought this apartment in 2020 which was then completely renovated. The people above also renovated; could it be due to this? The architect who oversaw the work abandoned me after it has finished.

Back up and take another picture or two so we understand where the crack is.

And what material are we looking at -- drywall (sheetrock)?

@Sherry Oli, no one can tell you what the issue may be as we cannot even tell what the issue is and what the material is. Your description is not a help. Post up pictures.
