Hi. Agree with Lyn re centering bed opposite the closet wall. Can the desk do double duty as a nightstand next to the bed?

you can't center the bed and still have room for the desk and chair next to it, guys.

your second layout is better -- you need room for the closet doors to open without wedging up against the end of the bed. and a kid doesn't need nightstands on either side or whatever. (and honestly, if that desk is going to be a gaming setup, then having the bed facing it is probably ideal! hah.)

why use a queen size bed? a twin is very roomy for a 7 year old.

I think the second one is better if you need to keep the queen. If it doubles as a guest room, maybe a day bed with a trundle would work better in a small space.
