It requires no particular care. Easiest shrub in the world.

You might not want to site it in a place where a tree would be more appropriate. Do you have a location where an ornamental shrub would be a nice accent? Forsythia blooms for a short time in the early spring and can be kind of homely the rest of the year.

The common varieties are also large, suckering and unruly.

one of the first things to bloom in spring.. bright yellow... when it gets larger.. you can snip branches in late winter.. and bring them in the house to force bloom ... im rather rural.. but i love driving into town. ans seeing them starting to bloom.. and then waiting for a week for mine to bloom ... you cant miss IDing them while driving based on early bloom and color ..

this ID was easy .. next time.. a bit closer on leaves so we can focus better.. and big city location is often helpful ...

you are going to have to try very hard to kill this plant.. even running it over with the car probably wont kill it.. lol ..

scroll thru these pix to see the future potential of this plant... it can be heavily pruned into a small area... but given a great siting.. can be incredible... renovation pruning is the term.. when the time comes...
