blackberry lily seeds

i'm trying to harvest some blackberry lily seeds for my daughter BUT something is deadheading them. the bare stems are there but the pods are gone. the seeds are black when mature. they're brown bwfore the pod opens but look mostly ready. if i harvest them before the pods open will they still be viable?
