Not sure what you are looking for, but a search for decorative range hood covers came up with stuff like this:

But you have to install the liner and fan )insert) yourself with these.

We are looking for JUST the hood. The metal portion that hooks into the hood ductwork. We have a fan that draws air that is installed in the wall that blows to the outside, rather than circulates the air. It's more efficient this way and we can't have a fan running inside over the range as well as one drawing air from the outside. So we just need the metal shell without any motors/fan.

You need a range hood liner,(Google it)

Why do you want a metal hood in the way if you don't need one?

I think jlivan is talking about something without ducting of ANY kind because they have one of these in the backsplash.

I have to say I agree with Fred, why on earth do you want something hanging down over the stovetop if it doesn't serve a purpose? Are you looking to protect a cabinet hanging above the stovetop?

Sears sells these to protect cabinets.

Nope! We have an externally venting fan (fan and motor are mounted inside an outside wall away from the range) and therefore need a hood that doesn't have it's OWN fan, but can be ducted to the external fan. That's how it was when we bought it but they had a wide cooktop and the hood was gigantic. We switched to a regular 30" range and needed a smaller hood. It is not just a vent fan (Fred posted a pic of one of those), it's actually installed in order to be hooked up to ducting coming from over the stove so that you can suck the heat, grease, smells and CO from the stove. So rather than an internal fan in the hood that blows the air through the filters and recycles it back into the room our fan draws it from the outside. They are much quieter than the ones rot over the stove.

After spending an hour online today I found that they are called "externally venting range hoods." They are more efficient than the fans built into the hoods that are used more often, so we figured we should just take advantage of the fact that the house already has the fan mounted in the exterior wall.

Thanks for all of your responses! We all learned some new stuff. :)

Kocimj, we need more than just the liner as there is nothing at all there now.

Fred S. and mforr, we love the look of the hood and it helps get the grease, etc...out of the house. The kitchen is big enough where we don't need more cabinet space there.

This is one you build a more decorative hood around. Pretty spendy for not having a motor, though.

Scratch that last post then. typing while you were posting.

Fred, that's what we're finding. We bought a beautiful hood from Ikea that included the interior fan piece for $600. We are just not going to use the fan insert. Seems like a waste but pricing isn't much different dpfrom those without the fans!

Apparently KitchenAid sells wall mounted range hoods without blowers. https://www.homedepot.com/p/KitchenAid-48-in-Wall-Mount-Range-Hood-in-Stainless-Steel-Blower-Sold-Separately-KXW9748YSS/205421969
