interior paint ideas

We finally decided to pick the vinyl flooring for our home. Now, the interior color will have now, will mostly likely change. So, now it’s time for a color that’ll complement the flooring, that will not show the stains on the wall. What seems to be a popular color for dark flooring. I want to push for gray but blue have been weighing heavy on me.

Also, the curtains will change as well.

What stains on the wall? Take some pics with the skimpy drapes open and all the lights on. It is impossible to advise on wall color as it is.

We’re fixing the drywall with any wear and tear that has happen on the wall

you have everything pushed up against the walls.

Spin the sectional around to face the TV and the window.

Spin the dining table too. Your furnishings are very dark, go with a lighter blue, but stay away from gray, much too drab. a large area rug in the colors you love will help anchor the seating... choose something in the blues you love and choose a blue for the walls.

hang the curtain rod at the ceiling height, extend beyond the wondow frame and get enough panels to fill the window with fullness when closed. White sheers to difuse the light and fill the room. Hang the clock somewhere else. Get large canvas art greatbigcanvas.com

Thank you Lyn. This is the critique that I needed. We’ve have done the flooring yet. We kept a dark color furnishing because of us having kids and dogs. We have a large area rug on our list. And we did have our sectional a way to face the tv but I was lazy. Plus, I’m in the process of picking a sectional that doesn’t take up the whole room.

I'm not clear on whether the floors in the pictures are the new ones or not. If they are, they are so dark I would stick with a light wall color. Otherwise you're going to end up with a cave-like room. A good quality paint can be washed, or you can repaint worn spots in a couple years if necessary. I don't see how any shade of gray would go with those floors. If those aren't your new floors, show us a picture (maybe just of a sample) of what the new ones are going to look like.

We really didn’t want to go for light flooring. This isn’t the flooring now. Just took a picture and had a sample rendered into it.

I may consider a lighter coloring. I wanted to stick with a reddish tone.

    with warmer gray/taupe

You wrote "We’ve have done the flooring yet." Can you tell us clearly is the a new floor or old floor?

If you want flooring that minimizes pet hair and stuff, go for something more midtone, not really dark, not really light. I like your idea of a warmer floor, a grey toned floor will be very chilly in there.

My apologies, the flooring “hasn’t been done yet.”

No need for apologies, so you are doing the floors with a lighter color I hope?

Reconsidering now. I don’t want it too light.

I would not go with this one flooring at all! It is busy, dark and a lot of variations. Get something lighter and not busy.

Are these colors that would work?

I like top one of the three you just posted. Your original one had too much variation between planks and looks busy. I’d pick a warm lighter color.

I had picked that color but the material was not the greatest, as far as durability.

The first one out of the three.

If you're really worried about pet hair, that's the darkest you would want to go, mid range would be even better. But there are lots more things that come into the decision than dog hair!

Yeah I see that now. Me and my wife had to compromise with our choices. She wanted something dark but, I was leaning towards a reddish look. This was the choice.

But, seeing that I don’t want a light color living area, then I would will have to go a little lighter in on the floor, less chaos on the pattern.

Also, this vinyl is going throughout our home. Even the kitchen. Here’s a pic of the kitchen with the first choice. And, cabinets will not be dark, we’re changing this as well.

I’m confused. What was the choice?

Light floors work with everything! The furniture, wall color, rugs, window treatments, art, etc. will set the tone for the room. My DD has dark floors and 3 young kids…..every speck of EVERYTHING shows up on the floors.

Molly D. Zone4B, the original picture posted was the first choice

My apologies Molly. The original picture wasn’t the first choice. The one that you had liked was my first one. That coloring flooring was at Lowe’s but the the competitor had a better pricing, LL flooring, and the original picture to the post, is what was chosen at LL flooring

    Hola,

    Saludos

Okay great! Then for paint I would choose just a warm toned neutral. I wouldnt use gray.

Post pics once the flooring and cabinets go in.

Congrats on choosing vinyl flooring — that’s a great, durable option! For dark flooring, popular complementary wall colors right now are:

    • Soft greys with warm undertones (like greige or taupe)

    • Muted blues (especially dusty or slate blue)

    • Off-whites or ivory, which balance light and won’t show stains easily

    • Olive or sage green for a more earthy, cozy vibe

If you’re torn between gray and blue, a blue-gray blend could give you the best of both — modern but calming.

Also, consider curtain fabrics que absorban luz si tu suelo es brillante. Algo como lino o terciopelo queda muy bien con esas combinaciones.
