shelf design above Tv

I want to fill the space above the tv. I planned a light wood like the bookshelf on the other side, but maybe it should be black? And maybe there should be 2 shelves? I’m thinking it would be installed
at the same height as the top of the bookshelf on the other side.
Thanks for your input 😊

Leave it. It will be distracting.

I like the size and shape😊

IMO too much going on on that whole wall aready with no addition to clutter needed

Not everyone wants minimalist decor. It seems to me that plants are your passion and they must bring you joy.

What bothers me is that over the fireplace and the right side of the fireplace seem empty in comparison to the left. It isn't balanced.

I love the rustic wood with the plants.

What do you think about adding more rustic wood and plants to the other 2 parts of the wall?

My vote goes to Jilly’s second pic with the dark frame. It adds some balance without adding too much more.

I like that too. You are all correct I am more of a collector than a minimalist. My yard is intensely planted, plants are my passion…I feel like the wall is not balanced. I appreciate ALL your input. I’d like some plants up there….I don’t do fake as a rule.

I have many plants, but with minimal window treatments I’m happy in my space😊

Jilly, the print you inserted is perfect with the dark frame, i’ll be looking to see if I can find some thing similar.

Your room is beautiful! I love plants, too, but don’t share your talent with keeping healthy indoor ones. My plants just asked if they could come live with you. :D

Please update us with what you decide. :)

Sorry, didn’t see your last post before mine … I agree, I think the dark frame is best.

It’s not at all that I think it needs to be minimalist. Clearly that’s not your style. But the TV, in my opinion, is the focus, and that’s why I say no shelf.

After much deliberation listening…I took my wire cage with moss and wood balls off the top shelf of the bookcase. Hoping this makes that side less heavy. I a picture or a shelf might distract from the art over the fireplace.
I did ALL WHITE walls on the main floor, I wanted light and airy, and it does have the field that I wanted. However, I miss some color… I got a suggestion to paint the wall behind the TV and the wall behind the bookcase green. I’m leaning towards this idea. You would only see it from the kitchen side of the great room. You would not see it from the front door. Thoughts? I would probably use the green that is in my pantry.

Jilly, I just saw your post about your plants wanting to come live with mešŸ˜‚. Be assured, I do not have 100% success with Plants. Sometimes they are just picky or get tired.

That’s a wonderful green (I’m jealous of your pantry!), but my opinion is that it (or any color) would look choppy just doing the two walls you mention.

I think the room looks so pretty, graceful, and serene, but not boring at all, with the current color and your decor. :)

But it’s not my house. Curious to hear other opinions, maybe someone can do a mock-up.

How about a round sea grass basket to balance the several rectangular shapes?

I love those baskets, would you put them above the TV?

Thank you Jilly, your opinion of not painting is appreciated😊. My mom told my husband I always had 10 things going, and nothing finished… That’s what this would be.šŸ˜‚

What would you think of using more colorful art, or is the picture above the fireplace special?

Colleen, yes, I was suggesting for the space above TV but did not pay attention to dimensions. Personally I think all 6 would be too much but even one large one or a set of 3 might work. Good luck!

Photoshop helps.... so I have idea to accent your table under the tv, either a woman-art clear green like the small vase [on table], or earthy like vase atop tall shelf.

Do you use any table runners or doilies? - could go on the accent table.

A runner, yes I think that would be nice. Thanks!

Would you consider painting the brick around your fireplace a cream or soft green color? I think it would reduce some of the heaviness there. The fireplace area seems to be somewhat cavernous compared to the light airiness you are going for.

I had the same annoying issue with my Firestick remote! Kept saying low battery all the time, even with new batteries. Turns out, it was a glitch from a recent update. What worked for me was resetting the remote, but there's also an app you can use as a backup. The guys at Watch Binge Repeat have this awesome guide that helped me out. They've got some other cool tricks too, like contacting Amazon if it's a hardware problem. You should totally check it out on their logout of netflix on firestick page for more details. Hope it helps you like it did for me!
