In bedrooms, it's usually best to start with the linens for the bed and coordinate with that. Your linens bear no connection to the paint on your walls. The stark white isn't working in this room. Neither is that ceiling fan. Your inspiration photo shows only one color and no contrasting paint trim.

Here is how other burgundy bedrooms appear. Not one of them makes a cohesive statement. They all look a bit sad.

At this point, I would find some linens that bring another color into the room. Lots of layers and textures could help the room.

I think you need some mockups to get it right. I’m leaning toward trying that champagne color in the pillows, but I don’t know how it would go with your ceiling. The trim near the ceiling needs to be darker, but you want to get it right the first time. See if you can get some mockups of all the paint and a new, more dramatic fixture for the ceiling fan.

That’s assuming you are OK with all the dark. I inherited a dark bedroom and it doesn’t bother me too much even though I am not a fan of dark walls. I’ll paint it lighter eventually. That room gets a lot of daylight and I don’t spend much time in there.

I think you’ll be able to find medium-toned bedding.

I used to have a room that color, dramatic and moody. I loved it. In the photo, your ceiling is really overwhelming, but maybe that’s partially the lighting? With texture, lighting that de-emphasizes the ceiling, and decor, I think you can make this work.

The room looks like it has a gigantic white lid HAT. Either drown the room in that color and do all the trim. Or start over.

You can't just take an Instagram picture, and ONE element from it and expect a miracle.

I happen to love a dark dramatic room. But you have to think of all the elements in it. Including relief from the darkness . No matter what that room may be.

Go take more pictures other angles. What is the ceiling height in total at highest point and what is THE HEIGHT OF THE TRAY bottom, from the floor.?

Then? Put up some inspo pics of BED rooms you love. Start there.

The floors are gorgeous but there is way too much going on in here. You would think the dark walls would ground the space but no, they don't. The bands of color makes the room so top heavy. I'm glad you're willing to repaint.

I agree you need to simplify...remove the picture molding and use a color wash - the same color for walls, doors, and trim up to but not including the ceiling.

Try a nice soft color that complements the floor for fabrics and paint.

Then the ceiling should be a lighter color to draw the eye up and to open up the space visually.

I personally love the color of the walls but the white is the problem in my opinion it stands out too much. I would suggest that you change that white and go from there. Look for other inspo pics also, this one doesn't gave enough elements for you to get the idea of what you would like your space to look like.

I agree with the suggestion to paint the entire space the same color. Here’s a couple of inspiration pics and a suggestion for a new chandelier from Etsy if you can get by without a fan. I think you need something large to fill the overhead space.

I learned from experience light/white trim doesn't work well for dark saturated wall color, I agree with those who have suggested to paint the trim same color, it will look a lot more cohesive and intentional, you might do the ceiling a shade lighter in the same tone, but I wouldn't go much more than that, it think it actually could look really cool with the light floors, I wouldn't wait on bedding till you decide the paint .
