Final Rebloomers

It's been so cool that not many of my rebloomers have opened. But today Applique started reblooming and was able to open well by noon. One of my seedlings finally was able to open as well. I have one more with four scapes on the way, Angels Sing Softly. The most developed scape will likely bloom by the weekend, but the others will probably have to be cut off.

Applique

Innocent Discovery X Dearest Valentine had two rebloom scapes in late summer and now this one.

That's great Debra. I like both [I got Applique from you] but your seedling is exceptional.

My Belle Isle Sentry struggles to open but is doing better this week as it is warmer. I brought a couple scapes in but those didn't open at all.

Thanks for looking, Brad and kay! Innocent Discovery X Dearest Valentine is one the best seedlings I've gotten out of DV. It multiplies faster than all the others, and is a great rebloomer.

Debra, I have been working a lot in the plants and I was grooming the Extension Bed and the Right Front Bed and Bubblegum Queen has added a couple of fans. I was very pleased about it.

Great to still see some rebloom for you. Im guessing this will be the end, we are all going to get some colder weather this week. Trees are losing leaves here.

The DV seedling is 6 inches? I know you don't like them less than that. Unfortunately, you have noted the Innocent Discovery is probably tender in the north.

The color on your seedling is very vivid. I imagine the cooler weather makes it really shine.......We are forecast to have our first freeze next week. That means the mass migration of my daylily pots to their winter quarters will begin soon. I always think of it as similar to the trek of the Wildebeest in Africa twice a year, only my pots don't move themselves. I wish they did.......Maryl

I don't move pots to the garage till after a series of freezes. If a plant can't take twenty degrees, it probably isn't worth having. Of course, most of those in pots are duplicates or newbies. I don't store tender evergreens.

Mantis: There isn't room in my attached garage for more then a handful of plants (some daylilies, but some other types of tender plants as well), so most of the daylilies are left outside in as sheltered a position as I can give them (which isn't much). One of the reasons I'm trying to stay with mostly dormants..............Maryl

Kay - I'm so glad Bubblegum Queen already has a nice increase for you!

Mantis - The Innocent Discovery X Dearest Valentine seedling seems pretty hardy. It does have a 6-inch bloom.

Sherry - Our trees are losing leaves without ever changing color. We're in the low 80s here for most of the week, but next week is much colder with possible freezes.

Maryl - It looks like we're going to get a Halloween freeze. Moving all those pots sounds like a lot of work. I only have a few in pots now, so its not so time-consuming to move mine.

Nancy - Thank you on the seedling comment! That's one I really like. I wish we would have a year with decent rain, so I could better evaluate its plant habit. The first year it bloomed three years ago we had ample rain, and it had 16 buds on a couple of scapes. But the the past two years with little rain in April and May, the bud count was far less.
