You have so many options.

I’m assuming there’s no TV in there. Because that affects placement distance from walks & encroachment on passageways, hence size of sectional . And also it appears that the covered patio isn’t shown in photo, so room will be darker , except if west- facing.

Also, are you planning for any end tables, or table between 2 chairs,for drinks, lamps. Again that would influence where best to orient the “ L” & chairs.

Thanks for the ideas. For some reason I have it set in my mind that the back of the couch/sectional shouldn't facing the main entry. Am I alone on this? 😉I will have a coffee table, no other tables, and there will be a TV (picture/tv) above mantle.

The TV above the ntel is IMO mounted yo high. I dislike sectionals since arm rests= comfort 2 people are comfy and all the rest lined up like a kids bitrhday party waiting to play pin the tail on the donkey. I would do 2 sofas and 2 chairs and the bonus is you can change the lsyout when ever you want and have a great space at the windows for the Christams tree if you wish. I have no aversion to the back of a sofa facing an entry and if you are concerend get a nice sofa table and decorate it for the season

I am with you on the back not facing the main entrance to the room. It is not welcoming. We had great room in a custom home. No sectional but sofa faced TV. Pair of chairs near FP, along with another chair and table. Fourth chair near sofa. New owner did two sofas facing. Nothing faces the TV or the lake and ridge view.

The only reason I would consider doing the back at the main entrance was if your back view was exceptional.
