Keep cabinets like they are, service the stove, change the counters, and put in a new backsplash, and add a bit of color. Whats on that floor? hard to tell, almost looks like carpet. If it is, then, I would want to get rid of that too.

I too think your cabinets are keepers. Is the wood wall real paneling, or the 1970s version that was in everyone's basement? If it's real wood a good prep and paint will look great - that's what I'm doing in my kitchen. Otherwise considering replacing it would be a great idea. There are even peel and stick backsplash products, marketed to renters of apartments, that you could try out.

I would try to keep the stove, get a good servicing done and see if it makes sense. If so, I would try to match the white of the stove to the countertop. If you do have to change it I have seen where a cutting board was made to fit in the ten inch space and made to look very intentional.

Color schemes are so personal, when you go through the house do you have any inspiration? Is there brick or stone somewhere? Do you have a favorite piece of furniture that could start a theme? The blue-green paint colors tend to bring out the beauty of the wood.

What I really think you would benefit from is lighting. Undermount lighting is reasonable and provides great task lighting where your hands are working. If not already there, a light over the sink would be great. Great lighting may really improve your opinion of the kitchen.

I went to look for other colors and wanted to bring to your attention that that is a laminate floor, rather than LVP (luxury vinyl plank). The LVP should be a better product in general. I would avoid grey, as grey is becoming less popular quickly, and doesn't work nicely with the warm tone of your wood. Your photo above gives a good example of what I think you want, which is a medium toned wood a couple shades lighter than your cabinets, in a warmer wood tone.

Once again your photo is a great example of what I was talking about. However you just mentioned the important word rental, which means you want more universal appeal rather than your personal taste. So I might do this marble -ish peel and stick https://www.homedepot.com/p/Aspect-Collage-Subway-Carrara-Marble-12-13-in-x-15-13-in-PVC-Peel-and-Stick-Tile-1-3-sq-ft-Pack-AC010/324904179 or this white washed brick look https://www.homedepot.com/p/smart-tiles-Brik-Toscana-White-Red-21-28-in-x-10-86-in-Vinyl-Peel-and-Stick-Tile-2-42-sq-ft-2-pack-SM1150M-02-QG/317621011 and make sure you bank back extras to replace damaged sections, and then paint a bright warm white that works well with your wood. Or ask a pro how you could effectively paint that paneling with whatever finish is on it.

And definitely upgrade the lighting. Bright, squeaky clean and light should help you attract great renters.
