Rugs on new engineered hardwood floors

Anyone have advice on putting rugs on newly installed engineered hardwood floors? The flooring store owner said that I shouldn't put any rugs on it for at least a month and that's going to be rough with 2 dogs and 2 kids- anyone have any insight on this or experience? The floors are light in color so I don't think a lot of discoloration would be passible.

With site finished hardwoods you have to wait for the finish to cure but what is his concern with engineered? I unfurled my rugs as soon as I moved in (though my floors probably had cured a month unintentionally)

I have no idea- that's why I'm confused? I've tried to search online high and low and can't find any info.

If, it is prefinished floor that's been in a box. The finish needs to acclimate and cure outside the box. It will still sun bleach, although check with manufacturer to confirm. There are instruction slips that comes with the flooring. Review it, if, you haven't read it.
